Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement is made on behalf of Removals Sutton. It sets out the steps we are taking to identify, prevent and address the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking within our operations and supply chains. We are committed to conducting our business ethically, with integrity and respect for human rights.
Our Zero-Tolerance Policy
Removals Sutton has a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of modern slavery and human trafficking. This includes forced labour, bonded labour, child labour, servitude and all forms of exploitation. We expect the same high standards from our employees, contractors, suppliers and business partners.
No form of modern slavery is acceptable in any part of our business or supply chain. Any confirmed breach of this policy may result in termination of employment, cancellation of contracts or other decisive action that we consider appropriate. We are committed to acting transparently and to continually improving our efforts to combat modern slavery.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Removals Sutton provides removals and related services. Our supply chains mainly comprise transport providers, vehicle and equipment suppliers, facilities providers, and labour agencies. We recognise that some of these areas can be vulnerable to labour exploitation if not properly managed.
We are working to map and understand our supply chains in more detail, prioritising higher-risk categories such as temporary labour, subcontracted drivers and cleaning or facilities services. This helps us identify where our focus and resources can have the greatest impact.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We require our suppliers and contractors to comply with all applicable laws relating to modern slavery, human trafficking, labour standards and human rights. Our expectations are communicated through our procurement processes and contractual terms, which include obligations relating to ethical conduct and the prevention of modern slavery.
We conduct proportionate due diligence on new suppliers, particularly where there is a higher risk of labour exploitation. This may include requesting information on recruitment practices, worker conditions, use of subcontractors and any existing modern slavery policies.
We reserve the right to conduct audits of suppliers where we consider it appropriate, either directly or through third parties. Audits may include site visits, worker interviews and document reviews. Where issues are identified, we expect suppliers to implement corrective action plans within agreed timescales. Failure to address concerns may result in the suspension or termination of our relationship.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
Removals Sutton encourages the reporting of any concerns about modern slavery or unethical labour practices in our operations or supply chains. We are committed to ensuring that individuals who raise concerns in good faith are protected from retaliation or detrimental treatment.
Concerns can be raised internally through line managers, senior management or via existing reporting processes. We will take all reports seriously and investigate them promptly and sensitively. Where appropriate, we will work with relevant authorities and specialist organisations to address identified risks or incidents.
We also expect our suppliers to have their own mechanisms for workers to raise concerns safely, including anonymous reporting options where feasible.
Training and Awareness
We are working to increase awareness of modern slavery risks among our employees, particularly those involved in procurement, recruitment and the management of outsourced services. Training and guidance will focus on recognising red flags, understanding our policy and knowing how to report concerns.
We will review our training content regularly to ensure it remains relevant and reflects emerging risks, legislation and best practice.
Monitoring, Review and Continuous Improvement
Removals Sutton is committed to monitoring the effectiveness of our approach to preventing modern slavery. We will review our policies, risk assessments, due diligence processes and training annually, or more frequently if required by changes in law or circumstances.
As part of our annual review, we will consider any reported incidents, audit outcomes, supplier feedback and external developments. We will use this information to strengthen our controls, improve our procedures and set priorities for the coming year.
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement has been approved by the management of Removals Sutton and will be updated on an annual basis to reflect our ongoing commitment to combating modern slavery in all its forms.
